  • 34 lb beef brisket
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • ΒΌ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp beef drippings (from slow cooker or roasting pan)

Instructions

  1. Pat the beef brisket dry and rub it with olive oil, salt, pepper, smoked paprika, and other spices.
  2. Sear the brisket in a hot skillet until browned on all sides.
  3. Place sliced onions in a slow cooker and add the seared brisket on top.
  4. Pour in beef broth and barbecue sauce; cover and cook on low for 8–10 hours until fork-tender.
  5. For caramelization, melt butter with brown sugar and drippings in a saucepan; glaze over the brisket.
  6. Shred the brisket with forks and serve warm.
