  • 1 demi baguette
  • ½ cup basil pesto
  • Black gel food coloring
  • 12 ounces cherry tomatoes
  • Olive oil
  • Salt
  • Black pepper
  • Red pepper flakes
  • Fresh basil
  • Balsamic vinegar glaze for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Place silicone skull mold on a baking sheet; fill with mozzarella pearls and bake for 6-7 minutes until melted.
  3. Press down on mozzarella gently; blot moisture if needed and let cool.
  4. Increase oven temperature to 475°F; halve cherry tomatoes and roast on a parchment-lined baking sheet with olive oil and seasonings for 10-15 minutes.
  5. Slice baguette into ½-inch pieces and toast in the oven for about 8-10 minutes.
  6. Mix basil pesto with black gel food coloring to desired hue.
  7. Spread black pesto on toasted baguette slices; return to oven for another 8-10 minutes until golden.
  8. Top each slice with roasted tomatoes and mozzarella skulls; serve arranged on a platter drizzled with balsamic glaze.
